ABC nabs Bans pilot

ABC has acquired from ABC Studios an untitled legal drama project from writer Jenna Bans, with network favorites Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers also exec producing. Bans, who emerged from Rhimes' "Grey Anatomy" and "Private Practice" to become exec producer of last season's "Off the Map" for ABC, is the writer on the new project, about a high-powered Minneapolis lawyer who gets fired (under mysterious circumstances) and starts his own firm as a defense attorney, accompanied by an eclectic batch of colleagues.
